We are thrilled to welcome back Shekar Krishnan as the Director of our Preserving Affordable Housing Program Group Representation Unit!

Following his graduation from the University of Michigan Law School, Shekar served as an attorney with Brooklyn A in the Group Representation Unit, representing tenant associations and leading our Broadway Triangle fair housing litigation against the City of New York.  He then worked as an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, serving as pro bono counsel to Brooklyn A on the Broadway Triangle case and as a member of our Board.

Shekar clerked for Senior U.S. District Judge Jack B. Weinstein in the Eastern District of New York.  His publications include “Advocacy for Tenant and Community Empowerment” (CUNY Law Review) and “Without an Attorney, Scales of Justice Are Weighted Against the Poor” (New York State Bar Association Pro Bono News).

In rejoining Brooklyn A, Shekar will lead our Group Representation Unit’s fair housing litigation and community-based advocacy on behalf of tenant and neighborhood groups in North Brooklyn.  He will work to expand our Unit’s efforts to preserve affordable housing and stop the displacement and residential segregation of our clients and communities.

We are so proud to have Shekar back on board!
