He is also a Director of Viacom, where he serves as Chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee and as a member of the Executive Compensation Committee. He is currently University Professor of Law at the Cardozo Law School. We are honoring Mr. Schwartz for his extraordinary professional life; not only in the practice of the law, but also for his contributions and advocacy to make our justice system better. We are also recognizing his dedication and commitment to public service and cultivating the next generation of lawyers.
Luz Yolanda Coca is a community organizer who has committed her life’s work to serving and advocating for Brooklynites. She began working with the Bushwick Housing Independence Project (BHIP) in 2005, helping to advocate for low-income and immigrant tenants in Bushwick. Ms. Coca hopes that through her work she can be a unifying force between churches, community organizations and community leaders, to build stronger support in the fight for social justice and creating meaningful changes for those most in need. We are honoring Ms. Coca in recognition of her unwavering personal and professional commitment to social justice, advocacy, her community, her church and her hard work serving the residents of Bushwick and North Brooklyn.
