She began working with the Bushwick Housing Independence Project (BHIP) in 2005, helping to advocate for low-income and immigrant tenants in Bushwick. Ms. Coca hopes that through her work she can be a unifying force between churches, community organizations and community leaders, to build stronger support in the fight for social justice and creating meaningful changes for those most in need. We are honoring Ms. Coca in recognition of her unwavering personal and professional commitment to social justice, advocacy, her community, her church and her hard work serving the residents of Bushwick and North Brooklyn.
