Brooklyn A’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

Brooklyn A’s 50th Anniversary celebration was held on November 1, 2018 and celebrated the unique collaboration among our legal advocates, community partners, and dedicated supporters.
(L-R) Joshua Hoffman, Chief Financial & Operating Officer; Jessica Rose, Executive Director; Martin S. Needelman, Chief Counsel Emeritus; Paul Acinapura, Former Co-Executive Director; Thomas McC. Souther, Board Chair; Shekar Krishnan, Director of Legal Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships.
This year’s event celebrated a true milestone–50 years of work with the community. For half a century, we have provided high-quality legal assistance to individuals, families, not-for-profit community-based organizations (CBOs), community development corporations (CDCs), coalitions, and more recently small businesses seeking to sustain and develop vibrant, healthy communities. This year, in celebration of 50 years of community-based advocacy, it was our privilege to honor two of Brooklyn A’s longest-tenured advocates–Martin S. Needelman, Esq. and Paul J. Acinapura, Esq.–for their decades of service to Brooklyn A, its partners, and our community. In addition, we were proud to present the Pro Bono Appreciation Award to Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP for their invaluable contributions to the organization through the Externship Program.
